Configure Outlook 2003 With Yahoo
A common question: How do you set up Yahoo mail with Microsoft Outlook 2003?
Many people use Outlook for email at the office also maintain an outside email account and would like to add their Yahoo Mail account to their Outlook Client on their Laptop or PC.
Others have Installed the Microsoft Office Suite and want to configure it for use with their Yahoo or personal email account.
Unfortunately, you can only set up a Yahoo Mail Plus account for use with Outlook. There is a fee associated with the Yahoo Mail Plus service. The free yahoo account will not work. If you want to set up a free email account with Outlook I recommend that you use Google’s gmail instead.

I use free Yahoo! mail and Outlook 2003. About 4 days ago, I lost the ability to send email via Outlook but I am still able to receive email via Outlook. I am using POP3 (pop.mail.yahoo.com) and SMTP (smtp.mail.yahoo.com) AND POP3 Port 449 and SMTP Port 465. I have encrypted connection SSL selected for both. When I send a test message, everything appears to be working correctly (green check mark) but when I try to send an email I receive a message that my outgoing (SMTP) server does not support SSL-secured connections. I have never had any issues before. Any help please? Thanks!
You may not be able to use the free version any more. Sometimes it is possible to set up the free version and get it to work as you have. To make sure you can use Yahoo Mail with Outlook 2003 you will need to use Outlook Plus which requires an annual paid subscription. It may be that a recent update for Microsoft Office caused the mail to stop working.

If this doesn’t work you may want to consider switching to a gmail account if you don’t want to pay for the annual subscription for Yahoo Mail Plus.
